Psychotherapy and Counselling for individuals and couples
Psychotherapy is a collection of healing techniques excellent for your personal growth. A good client-therapist relationship has more of a positive influence on the healing outcome than any single therapeutic technique.
How we work
We can give you a missed experience to feel safe and supported to speak and feel your story, feel contacted in relationship, and have boundaries. Body oriented therapies such as Hakomi and Sensorimotor psychotherapy are effective in dealing with depression, anxiety, and trauma. Hakomi psychotherapy also known as experiential psychotherapy is a body centered psychotherapy that focuses on self-understanding in the present moment. It’s a method that blends Gestalt and Family Therapy, and draws on Buddhist meditation practices.
Experiential psychotherapy acknowledges the importance of the mind and body, its experience of life, and its source of information and healing in therapy. This method supports you to make conscious unconscious core beliefs often developed within the first seven years of life. When we make our core beliefs conscious we can update our true self from outdated beliefs and develop new perspectives. Then we can make empowered decisions about how we treat ourselves and relate to others.
Individual therapy
Individual therapy supports you to heal:
- Depression
- Low Self-Esteem
- Relationship Difficulties
- Family of origin issues
- Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD)
- Separation
- Grief and Loss
- Anxiety
Couples therapy
We provide couples therapy through applying the Hakomi body centered psychotherapy method. Hakomi psychotherapy with couples involves understanding, listening to and respecting the whole person. As your therapist we use specific experiments that relate to the couples presenting difficulties with intimacy, infidelity, trust, power and control – among other issues.
